Insulation is going into the studio this week. Electrical, plumbing, and HVAC were finally finished. Because of the desire to “future-proof” the space to grow along with my skills and creativity, the amount of wiring and smurf tubing behind the walls is more than your typical workshop. I also have great ventilation that will allow me to flush air quickly out of the basement area and upstairs. I’ll be able to turn this on by remote control even before I get down to the area to work. I also wanted to make sure that I had excellent lighting and power (220v) throughout the space. How will they hide all of the electrical behind the drywall? I have no idea, but I’ve been reassured that they will keep it out of my usable floor and wall space.
After insulation comes the drywall and then the rest should fall into place fairly quickly. I’m hoping to start moving in by October, but as I’ve learned over the past five years (which was only supposed to be two), you cannot put hard deadlines on anything in the construction industry. I am so anxious to get to work that two more months feels like ages.
